Explore the atmospheric use of tone in this immersive figure-drawing workshop.
Create two kinds of work: a reductive drawing where you apply the charcoal first and remove the tone to reveal a strong value pattern; and drawing on toned paper with white, where the charcoal or pencil is built up gradually to create form.
Using the figure model as your subject, you look at many different aspects of tone such as composition, shape, edges and contrast. The workshop is augmented by ongoing demonstrations, discussions and lectures related to figure drawing on toned paper and how it can be applied to other subject matter.
